Description
An ice shove is a rapid push of free-floating lake or sea ice onshore by wind. Strong winds from the same direction over, say, a 12 to 24 hour period, are enough to drive large chunks and plates of ice a shore. I was in the right time at the right place to capture this amazing phenomenon on the north shore of Lake Superior in subarctic conditions on a recent trip. The temperatures were hovering at about -20 degrees without the wind and auto focusing in these conditions was extremely difficult. A wide angle zoom captured things nicely
